I love the challenge of working in watercolor. It’s art of the unexpected. We can only attempt to control what has a mind of its own. My landscapes tend to be more atmospheric with generally muted colors and softer edges. They definitely try to capture my impression of the place. I enjoy celebrating commonplace things in my still life paintings -- things that everyone can relate to, rendered in a less familiar way. Not exactly realism. Not exactly an impression. More of a realistic impression that is obviously a painting. Lately I’ve been experimenting with layered color and textural effects in a series I’m calling “Colorscapes” — check under Gallery to go to that page.
